Failed firmare upgrade for SDLT 110/220
We were upgrading the firmware for an sdlt 110/220 and it has failed. All three lights on teh drive now flash at the same time. Is there anyway we can reload the old or try load new firmware to get this drive back?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Re: Failed firmare upgrade for SDLT 110/220
Eddie:
1.During the firmware upgrade was there a tape in the drive? If so, the firmware upgrade will fail as you have to ensure that there is no tape in the drive.
2. What was the firmware rev. that you were trying to upgrade to?
3. There is a way to downgrade the firmware to the previous version. For this, you will need an override password that can be obtained from the HP Technical Support for Data Storage.
4.If all the three LEDs are flashing chances are that the tape drive may have gone bad or you may have a firmware mismatch
5. Kindly powercycle the tape drive and check to see if it is first detected at the OS level. If yes, then run Library and Tape Tools and try to reflash the firmware. Eitherways do let us know the firmware rev. on the drive.
Thanks
Satish

Re: Failed firmare upgrade for SDLT 110/220
There was no tape in the drive but a colleage has put one in and we cna now not remove it.
The scsi controller card does nto recognise the drive nor is it recognised in the device manager.
Spoke to HP Tech US who were very helpful and advised i should contact the uk, after speaking to them they said they could sell us a new drive as it is not under warranty and are unable to offer support.
is there any other way to get reset the firmware?
Thanks
Eddie

Re: Failed firmare upgrade for SDLT 110/220
Hello:
There is a way to manually remove the tape stuck in the drive. You will need a 9V Battery. For detailed instructions, you will have to contact HP Suppork UK as I was not able to find a public document on the HP's website.
Thanks
Satish
