Firmware upgrade failure

I'm trying to upgrade the firmware in on MSL5026S2 library (SDLT160) from v75 to v82. The library and the first tape drive upgrades fine.. however the second fails with an offset error. I've disabled all applications/services which use the library. However the problem still persists..

thoughts?

Re: Firmware upgrade failure

I assume you are using LTT.
Check via the front panel of the library if the firmware is still 75. Sometimes it happens that the upgrade of all library devices at the same time give errors.

Make sure you are using the latest LTT 3.5sr1

Retry the upgrade selecting the drive only.

Good luck

Re: Firmware upgrade failure

Sense code 05 is an invalid request, other are vendor specifics,

did you try to upgrade with a cartridge int the drive?
do you have some sw polling the tape ?, is the tape ready in the front panel?
what if you try to flash the save version as present?

You could also try to connect just this drive to the scsi bus and try again

Re: Firmware upgrade failure

"did you try to upgrade with a cartridge int the drive?"

Nope. drive is empty.

"do you have some sw polling the tape ?"
Nope, the windows drivers and Brightstor is completely disabled. The other drive was upgraded fine under these conditions.

"is the tape ready in the front panel?"
Drive is showing read, empty and the firmware is still showing v75.

"what if you try to flash the save version as present?"
Same error! :(

"You could also try to connect just this drive to the scsi bus and try again"

Will try that now... :)

Re: Firmware upgrade failure

Top work that man! Connecting directly to the drive allowed the upgrade.

The drive in question was a refurbed replacement.
