Force eject media, MSL6030

Hi. I have an MSL6030 with 2 LTO2 drives in it (PN 331225-001). I tried to clean both drives to resolve unexplained "drive down" conditon in Netbackup software. Now they both have a cleaning cartridge stuck in them and they won't unload. Is there a way to force-eject them? Thanks, ralph_hearne@indaltech.com

Hello Ralph,
have you tried do it via touch screen on library? If not working, try to turn it of and on again.

Re: Force eject media, MSL6030

first try to understand the reason why you cannot eject the tapes.
most common reason is that a host have sent a "reserve" scsi command setting the flag on the specific device.
in this case you will never be able to eject the tape except if you clear that flag, or send the command from the host having set that flag.

the way to clear the flag is to power cycle the drive or library (you can also use LTT that should have now a function that allow that)
Be sure also to disconnect the FC cables when you power cycle the library so that the drive will not be set again immediately in that condition.

if that do not solve, it may be there is a HW issue, and that should be investigated using LTT
