HBA U320 66/133 PCI-X Dual-channel, Proliant DL380G3 and StorageWorks SSL1016
Hi !
I just recently bought HBA U320 66/133 PCI-X Dual-channel installed in a Proliant DL380G3 and StorageWorks SSL1016 for backup-purposes.
After I installed the server with Win NT4.0 SP6a and afterwards BackupExec 9.1 with the additional Tape DeviceDrivers.
The problem now is that the backupexec only recognizes the autoloader as a single tapedevices and NOT as a robot...
What is wrong? Have i missed something out ?
All the drivers seem to be loaded..
Sincerely,
Alexander

Hi Alexander
Question:
Did you "Enable Robotic Library Support" during the install of BEX 9.1. If not ..you should.

Hi Brian! is it possible to use the internal 5si onboard scsi(DL380) with the ssl1016. I tried and get the same problem as in the thread before.
And yes support added for the robotlib in BEX.
Is there any prob's with lun's or is it just like it seems, no support for standard non raid? like tape lib's .. if it should work.. can you give me a hint of driver version's that should work ..??
Brg Patrik Ekstedt once upon time also an ASE server and storage =)

Re: HBA U320 66/133 PCI-X Dual-channel, Proliant DL380G3 and StorageWorks SSL1016
There are a few articles to look at on Veritas' support site:
http://seer.support.veritas.com/NAV_BAR/clustersearch.asp?SrchPageID=adv_search_module.asp&show_pdf=1&include_techfiles=1&highlight=on&SearchArea=All&rc=25&SearchTerm=autoloader&ddProduct=BEWNT&ProductVersion=BEWNTPVER12608&ddOS=OS6023&method=and&group=on&show_pdf=1&include_techfiles=1&search=Go
The correct approach is definitely to go with a separate SCSI controller for the tape drive - if you try to use a SCSI controller which also controls the RAID functionality for your disks then the OS (and in turn Backup Exec) will not correctly read the SCSI port or ID.
