HP 2/28 tape library

If I have a 2/28 library with DLT7000 drives can I keep the library and replace the drives with LTO drives or do I need to go to a whole new library

The 2/28 was never rated for the LTO drives.

DLT4000 & DLT7000. see here

Some libraries that support the LTO 1 drives include the surestore 1/9 autoloader and the 2/20, 4/40, etc. family (now discontinued).

The newer MSL5000 and MSL6000 libraries support LTO1 and LTO2 drives.
The journey IS the reward.
