Can anyone tell me how to find out what model my tape drive short of shutting down the server and pulling it out? I need to find a manual for it and I don't know what model it is other than what I found listed in NT4.0 scsi drivers. It also uses 4mm dds3 tapes. Any help for this newbie would be greatly appreciated.

Re: HP C1537A
Well, you say the drive is a DDS3, you posted under the tape libraries, so I assume you are talking of an Autoloader. You also mention the NT SCSI driver, so you are attached to a PC. Given all that you have a good chance of having a C1599A SureStore DAT24x6e. Keep in mind that your actual model may turn out to be slightly different, but the unit is essentially the same.

Solution
c1537a is a hp code which can be related to somes products, if you have a internal one, you can read in the front of the dat wich model it is (DAT24 or DAT24x6) if it is a trade ready model, you cans still use the manual from hp but may be different the warranty path.
here is the link, check for the photo of your tape and pick up the manual.

Re: HP C1537A
I couple of option.
Look in the registry keys :
Example
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\Scsi\Scsi Port 2\Scsi Bus 0\Target Id 1\Logical Unit Id 0
This will tell you the vendor, themodel and THE firmware of the drive or,
you can also download the Tapetool Utility from HP.
You can download the utility from http://www.hp.com/cgi-bin/cposupport/swindex.pl?p=hpsurestor9641&l=en&c=Diagnostic
