HP Data Protector and SSL 1016 Compression Problem
I am using Data Protector 5.10 and a SSL 1016 LTO Drive and I am getting no compression when running backups. I have made sure the hardware compression is checked for the drive. When I run the compression test for LTT it shows that I'm getting 2.19:1 compression ratio. The data I'm sending is a lot of text files and MS Office Documents which should be able to be compressed. I back up about 1.5TB and it uses 8 LTO-2 Tapes.

Re: HP Data Protector and SSL 1016 Compression Problem
Ben:
Could you kindly tell if the software compression is enabled along with hardware compression? Also does the logs in the Data Protector indicate any kind of errors?
Thanks
Satish

Re: HP Data Protector and SSL 1016 Compression Problem
Software compression was not set. I ended up fixing it by setting up all my backup jobs from scratch. I used all the same settings but it worked.
