HP LTO2 448 External Tape Drive
G'day guys,
A client of mine has a HP LTO2-448 External SCSI tape drive connected to his server, and wants to use the native SBS03R2 Backup solution with it. While HP backup software (supplied with drive) works on the server, the client was not happy with the performance of the software.
The problem I have is that while the tape drive is appearing in the installed devices list & has the very latest drivers installed, Microsoft Backup says that there are no tape devices detected.
The current device firmware is S65D (latest ver), Drivers (from L&TT)are:
LTO: 1.5.2
SCSIport: 5.2.3790.3959
storport: 5.2.3790.3959
atapi: 5.2.3790.3959
HpCISSs2: 6.13.0.32
Lsi_scsi: 1.24.4.0
I plan on rebooting the server tonight to see if this will help, but at this point am not hopefull. Any assistance will be gratefully received.
Best Regards to all

Re: HP LTO2 448 External Tape Drive
G'day again
Unfortunately, a reboot of the server overnight did nothing to help with this situation, so am at a loss right now.
Really hoping that someone can help shed some light on this little dilemma.

Re: HP LTO2 448 External Tape Drive
This is the one case where you need to check and make certain that the Removable Storage Manager (RSM) service is running. That is almost always a problem and disabled so it very well may not be running.
