HP LTO4 FC drive solaris driver and slow speed problem
Does anyone know if there is a driver for the HP LTO4 FC drive to run on solaris 8,9 or 10.
I run an IBM FC LTO4 at 24MB/sec
HP on the same cable (instead of the IBM) will only run at 12 MB/sec
I have found a driver for the IBM but not for the HP.
Anyone else have this problem?

Re: HP LTO4 FC drive solaris driver and slow speed problem
The Solaris OS has a built in ST driver, so provided you have all the patches etc, it should work using the OS ST driver. We don't have anything specific for HP drives.
Here's our connectivity matrix. Pages 32 and 33 cover Solaris. http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/storageworks/ebs/pdf/EBSMatrix-0810.pdf
Might be worth running the device performance test with LTT to verify you can get the performance expected just focused on the drive (independent of application and source data rates). Even 24 MB/S is very slow for an LTO 4.

It's more interesting when it's gone wrong

Re: HP LTO4 FC drive solaris driver and slow speed problem
Can you be more specific regarding which version of solaris and which patches. Our application software holds us back in some cases from the latest.
Thanks.
Thanks.
