Re: HP MLS4048 Medium Changer Drivers

Its FC and installed the FC drivers but it then says SCSI.
There are two drives with 48 slots
The connection is via HP StorageWorks 41B - Host bus adapter-PCI Express low profile-4Gb Fibre Channel

Re: HP MLS4048 Medium Changer Drivers

Check (by serial#) if you see the upper or lower drive.

I assume you see the upper only. Maybe a connection or zoning problem.

Check from the switch too.

The lower drive is "sharing" the connection with the robotics.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: HP MLS4048 Medium Changer Drivers

Is it OK that it says SCSI when it is fibre channel?

Yes it is normal to say SCSI - it is a common misconception that SCSI means the old parallel SCSI however SCSI refers to the protocol, not the physical connection. All of the HP tape drives use the SCSI protocol whether it is connected over parallel SCSI, FC SCSI, or SAS (Serial Attached SCSI).

Re: HP MLS4048 Medium Changer Drivers

Ok i understand that. So what is the way forward? Am stuck and really need to get this going guys.

Re: HP MLS4048 Medium Changer Drivers

I can repeat the next step only:

Check (by serial#) if you see the upper or lower drive.

I assume you see the upper only. Maybe a connection or zoning problem.

Check from the switch too.

The lower drive is "sharing" the connection with the robotics.

Hope this helps!

Re: HP MLS4048 Medium Changer Drivers

Connect to the management web page of the library, note down the WWN and serial no. of the drives. Check the FC connection status.

Check the switch if both are logged in.
Check the zoning, if both ports are visible to the server.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
