HP StorageWorks 1/8 G2 Tape Autoloader 920 ultrium Tape Status

I had a tape stuck in the drive but could not remove it using the StorageWorks Library and Tape Tools or the front panel. The autoloader was opened and the tape physically removed. The problem is the autoloader thinks that the tape is still in the drive. I need to somehow reset the drive status so the drive is correctly identified as empty.
