HP SureStore 20/40 DDS4 C5713 won't accept cartridges

I have an HP (well 3) that won't accept the catridges with the tapes. The display doesn't show anything either.

I can see both the Device and the Medium Changer in the Device Manager. Anyway I can get it to accept the tapes?

This is a DAT 40X6 autoloader?

When the unit's SCSI cable is disconnected from the server and you insert a fully loaded magazine... what happens?

Yes this is a DAT 40X6 autoloader.

Same behavior. It's like the motor doesn't want to pull the cartridge in.
