HP SureStore DLT Autoldr 1/9

Anyone has this autoldr installed on a K-class and care to share gotchas if any?

You can connect it with the FWD SCSI port on the Core IO on the K-class.

Re: HP SureStore DLT Autoldr 1/9

Hi Frankie:

Yes, there is a VERY big gotcha. The 1/9 comes in two flavors: HVD SCSI and LVD SCSI. The two are not compatible and your K-box only supports HVD SCSI. There is no field upgrade to convert an LVD 1/9 to an HVD 1/9. If you have a LVD SCSI 1/9 then you can connect it but you must order a SCSI BUS convertor; Blackbox Corp. (http://www.blackbox.com) makes one (Part # IC541A $744US).

If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

I was told that an HSC interface would do with FWD SCSI part # 2990AR. Will that work as well?

I'm not familiar with that part number. A better thing to do is to note the Product No. of your 1/9. The rule is: if it ends in 'NB' e.g. C7145NB it's LVD SCSI; if it ends in 'RA', it's HVD SCSI.
