HP Surestore E Library Firware upgrade failed

Hi,

I was doing Firmware upgrade for HP Surestore E Ultrium Tape library by HP-LTT tools.
During the upgrade the LTT reported some mismatch firmware & prompted to continue "yes/no". So i've selected NO.

But the library hang & after rebooted there is
no display at Library LCD panel. The host is unable to detect the library & also ioscan show NO_HW for all those drives/fcp controller connect to the system.

Can anyone advice me on how to reload the firmware to library ?

If you have the remote controller card, you can do it via the web interface with FTP

Or use the serial port at the backend of the library to connect through a hyperterminal.

Hi Tamil,

try to "ping" your library. If this works, connect with ftp. Logon with user "download" and use the admin password. Select binary transfer mode (type "bin") and copy the firmware to the "chunker" directory.

ftp> put filename.frm /firmware/chunker

Which specific tape library are you using? "Surestore E" can be applied to several different libraries with different firmware and recovery procedures.

Where did you get the "firmware mismatch" warning? Drive or library firmware?

"Surestore E" sounds definitely like "galactica" in any flavour - Tamil, can you confirm that? (2/20, 4/40 or anything like that)
How about the light? Yellow or green? What version before the update - do you remember that? Please keep us posted!

Hi ,

I'm using Surestore e 4/40 tape library.

I've loaded the firmware by using RMC interface. The firmware were loaded from ITRC patch/firmware download centre.

After downloding, the library able to function with some warning firmware warning
such :-
RMC(remote management card)
--------------------------------
Mismatched revision : 3.32
good revision : 3.36

Fiber controller
--------------------------------
Mismatched revision : F30
good revision : F33

Picker
--------------------------------
Mismatched revision : P29
good revision : P31

I couldn't find the specific Firmware from any site's.

Pls advice.
