Hi,
Does anyone know if it's possible to install the Ultrium 1840 LTO-4 internal tape drive in vertical position? Will it work? Should the tape slot be aligned to the left or to the right?
I've read all the manuals and tech specs that I could find, but none of them mentions vertical installation of the drive.
Maybe someone already did that and can shed some light on it?
Thank you in advance.
Raf

Solution
It must be OK to mount LTO-4 vertically, as this is how the tape blades are munted in a c7000 enclosure.

Re: HP Ultrium 1840 Internal LTO-4 Tape Drive mounted vertically?
Yes it's OK to mount them vertically (on their side). The previous poster pointed out the blade enclosures. If possible it's best to mount them the same way they are in the blade enclosure. They'll work either way but that way is preferred.
They seem to work most of the time in other orientations but they should only be mounted on their side or on their base.
