Hard errors on MSL5052SL

Hi,

We are experiencing repeated hard errors on an MSL5052SL with SDLT110/220 tape drives whilst performing erases or backups on Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition SP1 and Backup Exec 10d.

The library is not offline but all jobs are queued or not ready.

The library front panel displays 3200 (Hard) Shuttle Jammed.

The library is running v5.16, the tape drives are running v85 (1 new drive is running v95)

Hi Alun,

I had this exact error with a customers library last week.
I took the lid off and spotted that the picker had not inserted a tape into a slot properly. The shuttle was catching on it when it was trying to go past.
I just manually pushed the tape back into the slot and repowered up the library.
The self tests completed fine with no errors.
Just to make sure I updated the library and both drives to the latest FW versions.
