How do you stop dltape-VRTS from loading at boot

Recently we updated drivers on a device to use the lates HP driver - Now during the boot we see the following error in the event log:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7026
Date: 07/11/2003
Time: 10:45:14
User: N/A
Computer: XXXXXXXX
Description:
The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
dlttape-VRTS

This driver is not required now for the backups to work.

Please do anyone know how to stop this from loading.

Hi,

-Make sure that the only loaded driver from control panel is your update driver.

-Remove unnecessary driver(s) from the said panel, then restart your system.

Hope this will help

hi
DLTape-VRTS is a driver loaded with backup exec (Veritas), not sure if there is an option in the BS to unload his drivers.
Probably what you will have to do is to uninstall backup exec, when reinstalling again you will have an oprion to load veritas drivers or to load vendors drivers.

You don't need to uninstall Backup Exec, just removing the device from Control Panel should work. Are you running NT 4.0 or W2K?

Go to the folder where Veritas Backupexec in installed normally c:\program files\veritas\backupexec\nt and run tapeinst.exe. This will give u an option to install the tape drivers.
