How do I configure the HP Surestore E Tape Library 4/40 to my L-Class server connected through Fibre channel cable. With the command ioscan -fn, I can see that autoch is with schgr driver - HP C7200-8000, and with my Quantum DLT8000 (6m & 7m) tape drivers.
Is that correct on the configuration to my Device File ?

Re: How to configure HP Surestore E Tape Library 4/40 (DLT8000)
Hello,
At first sight they seem that they are configured correctly. To check, you can use the mc command.
First check whether the server is communicating with the robot.
mc -p -q
Do an mc -r D to test whether the server sees the drives correctly.
Do a man mc for more information.
If the mc command doesn't work, check whether the patch PHKL_22460 is installed. If yes, then you need to upgrade it to PHKL_22759 at least. Follow this link for the patch:

us instead of europe if you are logged from the American ITRC site.
HTH,
Vince

Solution
HI
If ioscan shows all devices and robotic arm, you are good to go.
use mc and mt commands to test drives.
#mt -t /dev/rmt/6m status to check status of devices.
If you have HP OmnibackII software use the utility "uma" to test library.
#/opt/omni/lbin/uma -ioctl
Once in robotic arm, use "stat ds" to check status of drives and slots. You also can move tapes between slots and drives using move command.
Thanks.
Prashant.

Re: How to configure HP Surestore E Tape Library 4/40 (DLT8000)
Hi,
It sounds to me like you still need
assistance in actually defining the
robot device, which is different to
the device which is displayed in the
out put of 'ioscan'. Have a look at
the document. It should help you.
Also have a look at this posting.
