How to determine throughput for backups

How do you determine what your throughput is for backing-up data? I have an Ultrium 20/700 with LTO1 tape drives. The silo has a scsi-fiber bridge to select servers. I have 1000SX cards in each server. Is that enough information for an answer

Re: How to determine throughput for backups

Thanks, but we have backups running almost 24/7 now. I was looking for something more along "command line entries"

What OS and backup software are you running. Maybe there's something there that'll tell you what you want.

I work with Tru64 which has the 'collect' utility. That displays tape throughput. We also use Networker which shows throughtput.

Is this device connected to a sanswitch? If so, you can use:

portperfshow

To display the performance staticstis for the sanswitch.

HP-UX does not provides any command to display the transfer rate to tape devices.
