hi,
general actions are:

shut down the tape drive.

you will be sure that the "reserve" scsi command will be cleared
when powering on again, a selft test routine with a recover will run in order to release the tape.

power off the unit, remove it out from the casing if its an external drive. use a torx T8 screwdrive to insert into the hole at the bottom of the drive, turn it anticlock wise till the end of the tape is side the media. you will feel some resistance and cant turn the screw drive anymore. use a 9V battery (those rectangluar type) and pressed it on the 2 pins at the right hand side of the drive. the 2 pins are facing upwards, (towards the sky direction), the voltage will determine which direction the motor will move, if its not the right direction, try turning the battery to the otehr direction. the media should come out.

Alternative way (if the unit is within warranty):

Power off the unit, and remove any scsi connection from the tape and host (to eliminate any data signal from the host), power on the the unit and after a couple sec. use eject botton from the fron panel to remove the media from the tape.

Another way is to use another host with SCSI card(PC or server).Just connect the stuck up unit from this host and eject the media manually or used computer management from NT kernel.
