LTO 230 Autoloader

Would like to ask anybody encounter the problem that when LTO 230 autoloader load a tape, the tape is recognized as read only by the tape drive. However, the tape is not set as read only.

Anybody know the reason and solution?

Re: LTO 230 Autoloader

Check if the latest firmware is installed for the autoloader and drive.

Is it the backup software that tells you that the tape is write-protected? If yes, check that the latest patches of the backup software are applied as well. Data Protector does this thing from time to time as well, a scan of the tape clears this again.

Re: LTO 230 Autoloader

You want to update the drive firmware to E33P if you are not on that revision. There were some improvements to the cartridge memory access, which can make a tape with a corrupted CM show up as "read only" when it is not write-protected.

If that doesn't resolve it, run the Device Analysis test in LTT.
