LTO-4 running on XP prof NTbackup problems

have supplied a quanitity of HP LTO-4 drives with systems on the basis that the units will run on XP,s own backup software. However, the units all fail at the end of the backup claiming Write errors. All the units pass HP Ltt test software and all work on Backup exec. This is becoming quite an issue with the customer and i really need somwe assistance in this matter.

I have found links to a microsoft patch KB817688. The HP site claims it is the fix, however Microsoft say it is for 2003 only...

Can anyone help.....
