Re: LTO 6 Tape Drive Connect with Desktop Machine Possibility ?
Thanks for your quick respond,
Yes , This Is a External Tape Drive..
Recently we had purchase HP Store Ever LTO-6 Ultrium 6250 External Tape Drive EH970A.
Serial# : HUJ7057UN0
Currently we have all servers Dell Brand.
Dell PowerEdge R310 -2 No
- PowerEdge T330 -1 No
Above Servers are contained SAS HBA Raid Controller Card.
Now we need to install LTO Drive into a Desktop Machine for the Backup. Cause All server Backup will be store into the desktop machine over the Network. Once it finish it will be move to Tape.
This is the concept.
First Let Me Know, HP LTO 6 Tape Drive is it Possible to Work with a Desktop Machine with the support of A New SAS interface Card connected Over the PCIe 16x 3.0 Slot.
i heard somewhere The LTO 6 External Drive Work With only Servers. is it Right Or Wrong ?
seeking your valuable Comments
With Best regards

SolutionHi
i run LTO'6's on win7 and 10 no problem using Dell Precision T7400's and T3500.
I dont however run the backup exec on Win7 or 10 thats runinng on a server.
The 16x slot should also work fine. these things are techincally not supported but that doesnt mean it wont work.

Re: LTO 6 Tape Drive Connect with Desktop Machine Possibility ?
Dear
Thanks for your Valuable Comment, its highly appreciated.
Actually OS Doesn’t matter, i have up to server2016 Valid license. My backup is being Stored to A Desktop Dell OptiPlex 7040 (i7 Processor) machine.
My doubt, if i purchase a SAS card and installed over PCIe16x Slot, is it able to run LTO Drive LTFS Mode.
Otherwise we need to Purchase a new server For Backup which is compatible with LTO6 Tape Drive.
I’m expecting your valuable Suggestions for the same.
With Best regards,
Azaf

Re: LTO 6 Tape Drive Connect with Desktop Machine Possibility ?
Hi
I dont think i could 100% say that LTFS would work but i dont see why it wouldnt, i use HP SAS HBA's in many differant systems with no problems. i also have run LSI/AVAGO/DELL HBA's aswell with no issue.
