LTO Ultrium-1
The following are my problem:
- The server ISP Production could not backup, its tape backup drive HP LTO Ultrium-1 failed, though bought in 2005.
- The backup processing stopped at 50 - 60GB with message "hardware failure".
- We changed some new tape cartridges 200GB, but this situation still happend.
Pls help!

USe the HP LTT (Library Tape Tools) software to see if everything is fine with the tape drive. If there is a hardware problem, log a call at HP.

Try to clean the drive with cleaning cartridge. If it doesn't help, you mentioned 2005 purchase, may be still in warranty! Contact Hp support to get it checked/replaced.

Try following:
1. Clean the drive using cleaning tape
2. Update the drive Firmware to latest using Tape Tools (LTT)
3. If above steps dont help, call local HP support provider

- I used Library and Tape Tools and result the following: "Testing has completed and no problems were found"
- I updated the drive firmware, cleaned the drive, changed cable SCSI, port SCSI, and new cartridge was used, but that situation still happend, you can view the attached file, maybe I must call HP support :(
