LTO2 rackmount SCSI StorageWorks device - upgrade to LTO4 drive?

We have a LTO2 HP StorageWorks 1U rackmount device, that hosts one LTO-2 Ultrium half height drive. We are interested in upgrading the backup system to LTO4, and I wonder, is it possible to install an LTO4 drive in this chassis, and if yes, what part number should we order to perform the upgrade? Unfortunately, I am unable to reach the device physically at this moment to read its exact part number.

Check if you can get this link:

Is your enclosure still SCSI or already SAS?

The enclosure is prepared for 2 drives, frame and cables are already inside. But for a modern drive the enclosure must be SAS.

Hope this helps!

Hmm, I have found a SCSI LTo-4 Ultrium internal half height drive (part number EH921B). I am aware that LTO-5 and above technologies use SAS only, but we don't need this big storage capacity, as the data corpus is less than LTO4 native capacity.

The enclosure interface is SCSI.

So, can I take this answer as a yes, that the enclosure supports upgrade to a SCSI tape drive of a higher storage technology?

As said, the enclosure provides connectors, cbles, power, cooling and frames for 2 independent devices. If you have another SCSI device, just swap it or use the second bay. Don't daisy chain the drives.

Hope this helps!
