LTO3 tape set to Read Only
We have an G2 Autoloader. This does an automated backup using 6 LTO3 tapes, all of which are new.
Every time we get the third slot in the left cartridge set to "Read Only".
If we move the tape from this slot, the Read Only status goes with the tape. So the tape has been set to this state by the autoloader.
Is there a setting somewhere to change this?
How do I revert a tape back from "Read Only"?

Re: LTO3 tape set to Read Only
Read only is usually an option set by the backup application
you can also set it as read only if you have physically set it on the tape
You may get a read only situation from the drive, if the tape more than cartridge is two generation older then the tape drive

Re: LTO3 tape set to Read Only
Thanks for the reply.
We are using normal R/W tapes, all of the 6 tapes are the same format, with the write protection tab set to read/write.
The tapes are LTO3 tapes, and are new.
The tape is attached to a Netapp filer, and the backup is done via ssh dump commands.
