Long backup times 20/40 GB DLT
Hi
I have just migrated over to a Compaq Server. Backup takes six hours when compression is on (default for the drive). When compression is off it takes an hour (density over ride). Drive is a Compaq 20/40 DLT 4000. I have replaced the drive with another Compaq but no luck - same issue.
When I install a Quantum DLT 4000 (DLT 4000) the problem does not exist in compressed mode which I hope to do.
I cannot do a firmware upgrade because I use Banyan. In the past for Quantum drives I use a tool called DLTTOOLS to upgrade the firmware. I cannot use the NT tool mentioned because I run Banyan.
Seems to me the firmware is at D887 or something like that. Is there a way to create a FUP tape or something? What is the latest formware.
Two other offices have reported the problem. One with a 20/40 DLT and another with a 35/70.
BTW Banyan does not compress the data.
