MSL 5060 with one drive?

I have an MSL 5060 with two LTO-1 drives. Drive-1 failed. The MSL is connected to SAN via e1200 NSR. Terminating upper library controller port then connecting the lower one to drive0, drive0 to port-0 on the NSR then terminating drive-1 port on the NSR. The problem is: when checking discovery status on the NSR, the library and tape drive show down status. Any advice please?

Re: MSL 5060 with one drive?

Better to connect like this:

NSR port (1 or 2 - up to you) -> Lib controller -> Drive 1 -> terminator.

You can leave the other NSR port open.

Check discover menu. Check mapping menu.
You can clear and fill the map. Mapping is getting active, if you press the "activate" link. No need to do this while testing.

You may also try different cables ( I saw connection problems just yesterday on that kind of box).

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Yes it can be done....the above answer should be perfect.
Checking the Mapping, and doing a discovery...

Re: MSL 5060 with one drive?

Just to be safe - before changing anything, make a backup of the NSR config.
You will find this in the web page or simply ftp to the NSR, change mode to "bin" and

get myconfig.cfg

(you can name the file here whatever you want - but it must have the suffix .cfg)

Hope this helps!

I did replace the chaining cables + terminators but still having the same problem. Please find the discovery result (shows the NSR and the two VA7410 storage devices):
