Re: MSL 6030 support 2 LTO-4

Each LTO4 should be on the own scsi bus
Also you will get the benefit of the higher capacity, but the speed may not reach the expected value due to some internal component in the MSL that will slow down the thoughput

Re: MSL 6030 support 2 LTO-4

Hi Folks,

mas1, yes, the MSL6030 supports 1 or 2 LTO4 drives, either SCSI or FC.

Max data rate per QuickSpecs is 1.7TB/h, with two concurrent drives and compression, but take this number with a grain of salt, production rates will decrease due to a number of factors (file size, backup software used, system load, etc.)

Data sheet at http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/11863_div/11863_div.HTML

Also, the EBS is a great starting point:

Marino, may you please explain what internal components could slow down the data throughput? I thought that the internal components (robotics controller and such) did not manage data flow. May be that is the case with the integrated SCSI to FC data router?

Thanks,

Albatross

Re: MSL 6030 support 2 LTO-4

What is limited is the negotiated speed (80MB/s (msl5000)or 160 MB/s) (written also in quickspec in the link you provided under "Related Options"
Some internal components are only slowing down the negotiation speed during domain validation of the scsi bus, they do not interfere with the data flow.
