MSL 6030 - write to tape problem
I have MSL 6030 with Ultrium 960 tape drive connected with server(SCSI controller - LSI Ultra320 SCSI 2000) through SCSI.
I have problem to write to LTO tape with compress ratio 2:1(I/O device error). When I ran this test(LTT->Dev Perf) with 3:1 compression test went ok. I think that this makes problems under backup software Brightstor 11.5. When I want to backup file with size 20MB it goes ok, but when I want to write 400MB file it will crash after 13%(unable to write to media). I think that this is tape drive problem not backup software problem.
Do you have any idea?
Many thanks
Branislav

Re: MSL 6030 - write to tape problem
do you use the internal SCSI Controller of the server? Is the termination on the drives or at the library controller?

Re: MSL 6030 - write to tape problem
from the standard HBA >> LTODrive >> RobotController >>> Terminator
to this way: HBA >> RobotController >> LTODrive >>>Terminator
I mean put the end of the scsi chain with the terminator on LTO cannister

Re: MSL 6030 - write to tape problem
I've solved it according to your advices. I've changed the connection(termination on drive) on the back of the library.
Many thanks,
Branislav
