Re: MSL 6030

Do you want to connect via fiber or scsi?

I can provide you more details if you answer this question first.

Once connected, make sure "stape" and "schgr" drivers are included in the kernel.

You can use "mc" to move media into the drives and choose an application you want (e.g. tar) to write anything to the tape.

Another way to test the lib is to install HP library and tape tools for HP-UX, see

http://www.hp.com/support/tapetools

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: MSL 6030

You can test with the "mt" and "tar" commands.

The best is HP LT&T.

You can load a medium to the drive and then run:

tar cvf /dev/rmt/0m /usr
tar tvf /dev/rmt/0m /usr

Probably, you will have /dev/rmt/0m and /dev/rmt/1m, one for each drive.

Re: MSL 6030

for fibre channel connection, you will have 2 scsi tape drives connected to the network storage router. each drive will go to one of the scsi port in the storage router. however, one of them will have to share the scsi port with the library controller which control the robotic movement in the library. once connected, the fibre channel port in the storage router will go to the fibre channel adapter on the hp-ux server if you are planning for direct-attached setup. for fabric setup, you will need a san switch between the storage router and the hp-ux host.
