MSL TAPE LIBRARY ERROR

HI ,

i have the following message error on the MSL6060 tape drive ,
the error is on the drive 2 ofthe tape library ,
the message is :
ANR8300E
I/O error on library library name (OP=internal code, CC=internal code, KEY=internal code,
ASC=internal code, ASCQ=internal code, SENSE=sense data, Description=error description).
Refer to Appendix D in the 'Messages' manual for recommended action.

Explanation:

An I/O error has occurred while operating on the designated library device.
System action:

The operation fails.
User response:

Ensure that the DEVICE parameter associated with the library was identified correctly in
the DEFINE PATH command, and that the library device is currently powered on and ready.
If the library has an access door, make sure it is closed. The drive or library reference
manual provided with the device usually contain tables that explain the values of the KEY,
ASC, and ASCQ fields. If the problem persists, contact your service representative and provide
the internal code values and sense data from this message.

can i say yhat the problem is a hardware problem of the drive 2

Re: MSL TAPE LIBRARY ERROR

which kind of lib u're using? cost reduced?

usally there should also be an error code at the lib.

some question:
- which controller is used/how is the lib connected?
- did the lib ever works?
- how is the behavior in pratical?
- are the robotic is working?
--> make some selftest --> loading/unloading cartridge
- allready checked the lib with L&TT?

Re: MSL TAPE LIBRARY ERROR

The message appear incomplete, see following example:
ANR8300E I/O error on library FAKELIB (OP=8401C058, CC=207, KEY=05, ASC=83, ASCQ=04, SENSE=70.00.05.00.00.00.00.0A.00.00.00.00.83.04.E2.00.00.00., Description=Device is not in a state capable of performing request). Refer to Appendix D in the 'Messag

having the right info we can try to decode, if fiels are empty, LTT tests are the way to diagnose

Re: MSL TAPE LIBRARY ERROR

Hi,

Start with checking and re-attaching the SCSI cabling if TSM is reporting errors on the usage of one of the drives.

Does a tsmdlst.exe (or it's equivalent on Unix) still detects all of the drives?
