MSL5000/MSL6000 troubleshooting tree available

An interactive troubleshooting tree previously available only within HP support has now been made available on the external web. You can access this by choosing the "self-help resources" link in the left side navigation while on any of the MSL support pages, and then selecting "solutions from HP experts" option.

A quicker way to get there is the following jump station: http://www.hp.com/support/msltstree

Re: MSL5000/MSL6000 troubleshooting tree available

David,
I haven't been able to find any advice about how to check NSR functionality.
In my experience NSR issues are very frequent when dealing with MSL, expecially in case of new installations.

Did I miss that specific point?
Or it wasn't included in this troubleshooter by purpose?

However the online tool looks very complete and useful.

Well done

Re: MSL5000/MSL6000 troubleshooting tree available

Claudio,

Although this is focused on the MSL hardware (with a lot of content for the fault codes listed under Library/GUI error), it does contain some content for NSR issues.

For example, if you look under detection issues:
┬╗ Setting the AL_PA value
┬╗ Finding conflicting SCSI ids
┬╗ Determining if Library is in an error state
┬╗ Fibre channel LUN mapping
┬╗ Server/HBA LUN map association
┬╗ Fibre topology
┬╗ Operating system device detection
┬╗ Operating system HBA detection
┬╗ Setting fibre port mode
┬╗ Network storage router SCSI detection
┬╗ Network storage router SCSI settings
┬╗ SCSI cabling
┬╗ Toggling fibre speed

Almost all of those include the NSR, or are specifically for the NSR.

Let us know what areas related to new installs and the NSR you feel are not covered. You can use the "content feedback" section in the tree to provide feedback.

Re: MSL5000/MSL6000 troubleshooting tree available

David,
I apologize. I totally missed "Detection Issues". It contains all the info I meant. I looked for it in other chapters, like "Software Issues" and "Diagnostics Issue".

Good tool. I will advice it.
