MSL6000 NSR reconfigurations

Folks,

I would like somewhat detailed guidance on NSR reconfiguration. Below is the current configurations.
- NSR is connected to the same fabric switch as the two NEW HP-UX hosts it is going to back up.
- Fabric zoning is done. Both HP-UX hosts can see the two drives on MSL6000.
- The robotic arm (autochanger) cannot be seen yet on either host.

In brief, I would like to be able to reconfigure the NSR in order for the two HP-UX hosts to see the robotic arm. Thanks.

Re: MSL6000 NSR reconfigurations

Hai,

You might also want to check that the SCSI cabling is correct. It's common to see the library controller, not connected to the NSR which would give the problem you're seeing...

SCSI port 0 on the NSR should go to the library controller card, and then on to drive 0.

SCSI port 1 on the NSR should go to drive 1.

Hope this helps,

Re: MSL6000 NSR reconfigurations

Once the mapping is done, check if you have the drivers installed.

If you see something like this:

unknown -1 1/0/4/0/0.5.10.255.0.0.0 UNCLAIMED UNKNOWN HP
MSL6000 Series

the schgr driver is missing.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: MSL6000 NSR reconfigurations

Can anyone please provide the steps on how to do the mapping? I have tried to follow the doc but been unable to have the two new servers recognize the robotic arm. I believe that my scsi cabling is correct. And the only problem now is with the map, which needs to be changed. Thanks.

Re: MSL6000 NSR reconfigurations

Check that:
- The WWN of the HBA on the server appears on the NSR list
- That WWN has a mapping assigned
- That mapping contains the library controller
- The order of the devices on the map depends on the OS of the server, it's different for Windows and HP-UX for example.
