Hi,

Verify file /opt/omni/scsitab and search in "HP OpenView Storage Data Protector
Administrator├в s Guide" for "scsitab".

Data Protector does not differentiate between LTO1,2 or 3 media. Once you start to backup to tape it will correct the pool sizes as it goes. What it does is write data to tape untill it reaches the end of each tape then adjusts the tape size in the internal database. best thing to do it try a backup between 200 and 400GB to see what I mean

Re: MSL6000 series and ULTRIUM 2 within DP 5.5

Hi,

Media size has nothing to do with scsitab.
As mentioned in a previous reply, there is only one LTO media class in DP. It is possible to change the default size by editing the global option file but, it is not neccessary. The default size is only used for some statistics, DP always write to end of media.

O.,

You can force the size of the tape in a format. just tell it it is 400gb, when formatting a tape into your pool. It will then happily say that it has 400 gb space left.
