We will acquire a HP e1200-320 4Gb Fibre Channel Interface Card N/P= AD577A to be installed into the MSL6020 and be able to connect it to the SAN SWITCH - HP Storageworks 4/8 - N/P = A8000A.
Also, we have a NetApp NAS with very important data that need be connected to the SAN Back Up environment. They are requesting get access and control of one of the two MLS6020 Tape Drives due robotic will be controlled by Legato Networkers Back Up Server. That mean we will need to install two (2) HP e1200-320 4Gb card at same MSL 6020 unit, but as we understand, this card already has support for two (2) tape drives.
We need to be sure if it is possible to install two (2) e1200-320 4 GB interface cards at the same MSL6020, using two (2) free slots available, in order to control an independent data access per Drive. Please Advise !

Re: MSL6026 and FC interface 1200-320 GB
the e 1200 has 2 scsi buses. The issue of the number of tape drives is the bandwidth of the scsi bus and the bandwidth requirements of the tape drive.
One bus can support the robotics and 1 tape drive and the second bus can support the second tape drive.
The e1200 has a mapping feature that allows diffent hosts on the SAN to access different devies on the busses. You can configure it to allow 1 host to see only the tape and a second host to see only the robotics.

Re: MSL6026 and FC interface 1200-320 GB
Can MSL6026 (with two SDLT600 Drives) support two (2) e1200-320 4 GB interface card at the same unit? If yes, each card can be dedicate for each SDLT tape Drive ?

Solutionin fact, in the mapping functions, you can create a map for the firt drive and the robot and present them exclusively to the first host, then you can create a map to present the second tape drive exclusively to the second host.
Each host will see only the device presented to him, like it was hard attached.
You may have a look at the nsr manual to see how to do this, and it is one of his primarly functions.
So you do not need two nsr to reach your goal
