MSL6030 Linux backup software

Hi
I'm looking for a backup software certified for Linux (Red Hat or Suse) and MSL 6030 library (SCSI attached). I need to backup a single server Linux (HP PL 380 G5) connected to a MSA1500cs storage.

Data Protector Express is compatible with Red Hat version 3 and 4.

But in Support Matrix (DataProtectorExpressSupportMatrix12Sep07.pdf) there's no support for MSL6030.

Hi Max,

You can go for Data Protector 6.0 which is supported for both MSL and D2D backups onto MSA if required. This will be a good option

Hi Max,

You could always keep things simple and backup with cpio or tar.

Take a look at mtx to control the MSL library.

Many thanks for the suggestion.

The installation/release notes of DP 6 state that the cell manager is supported on Linux RH/Suse but only for Linux 64bit (I use a 32 bit version) and that there's no graphical interface but only CLI.

In that case you can use Symentec Netbackup which supports most of the available platforms
