MSL6030 NSR e1200 not deteced by HP-UX servers
I've got a MSL6030 library connected to the SAN.
The NSR is configured well: indexed mappings have been created and the FC WWN of the servers connected to the SAN are seen as well. The 2 Ultrium460 drives and the robot arm are detected.
The library was rebooted afterwards however the Unix servers (HP-UX 11.11) do not detect the MSL library: ioscan -fnC tape and ioscan -fnC autoch gives no results.
If I reconnect the old library to the SAN, it is seen by the Unix server again after a new ioscan -fn.
The FW of the NSR and MSL library is up to date. The SAN switch detects the NSR on the SAN port as well.
What am I missing here? Thanks in advance.

Hard zoning work at a port level,
Soft zoning work at a wwn level.
If you zoned the backup zone using the wwn of the old linrary, only this device will be seen by your hosts

Re: MSL6030 NSR e1200 not deteced by HP-UX servers
Shouldn't a 'ioscan -fn' be good enough to detect the new library? Or does another command is required too, that was done by the reboot this time.
best regards,
Kurt

Re: MSL6030 NSR e1200 not deteced by HP-UX servers
A reboot of the servers was required to update the information of the FC HBA. The device files were created after that old device files (for the same instance number of the new tape devices) were deleted.
See the following thread for more details:
