Media Not Recognized

I have installed a 20/40 GB DAT Autoloader to my Proliant ML370. The autoloader is recognized by NT and the backup software (ArcServe 2000). However I cannot get the software to recognize that the media is loaded. It keeps telling me that there is no media in the drive. Has anyone got any suggestions?
