Re: Multi -Library MS6060

Install the embedded LAN hub in the master library, most left slot.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Multi -Library MS6060

Okay... i do that today. and understand it.

Now is the next problem, i have the guide : MSL6000 series pass-through mechanism reference guide

and there ist one cabling schema, but i dont understand this schema.

Iam really pissed off because this library, HP have no documentation for this.

Can anybody tell me, how i have to cable the liybrary to use the pass-through mechanism.

Befor i get the second library, my first library works fine. My first library will be the master , schould i have to change the cabling at the first library ?

How i have to setup the cabling in my second library ?

Can sombody please told me "in detail" how i have to cable both library.

STATUS:

library one: (Master) : FC Router and Controller pluged in.

library two: (Slave): FC Router and Controller pluged in.

Do i need the FC Router at the second library ?

Thanks a lot
Torsten.

Re: Multi -Library MS6060

Of course you the the second FC router for connecting the drives.

The primary remains unchanged.

For any secondary you only need to connect the NSR with the drives - just put a terminator on one of the library controller ports and leave the second open. No SCSI cables needed on a secondary library controller.

Just make sure to connect each modules library controller to the LAN hub.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Multi -Library MS6060

Hello torsten,

thanks for your replay.

I have one last question.

What ist the meening of NSR ?

i summarize:

Master: cabling unchanged: only LAB cable from conroller to LAN HUB.

Slave: controller card: port one terminator, port two open, LAN cable to LAN HUB.

FC Router: scsi port one to drive one with black SCSI cable, scsi port two to drive two with black SCSI cable. ?? is this right ?

the drives from the slave lib got 2 Ports, do i need put a terminator on port two ?

I hope you can fast wrote me back.

Network storage router - it translates from fibre channel to SCSI.

A terminator must be installed on each open port on any drive.

In a secondary configuration the library controller is something special.

It is the secondary of the primary and receives the commands via LAN over the hub, for this reason there is no SCSI connection allowed.

But there must be 1 terminator installed, otherwise the library will tell an error.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
