Need Driver for Ultrium 960 tape drive on Windows NT

Hi:

I want to use an HP Storageworks Ultrium 960 tape drive with Windows NT 4.0. The CD that comes with the unit does not have driver for Windows NT, and there is none on the web site.

Anywhere I can get a driver for Windows NT?

Thanks,

Van

Van,

I doubt that Windows NT will support an Ultrium960 tape drive. too much time between both types of technologies.

Kurt

Re: Need Driver for Ultrium 960 tape drive on Windows NT

Hi Kurt,

Yes NT may be too old but we still have a lot of systems running on NT. IBM do support their 3580 Ultrium 3 tape drives on NT, so I believe someone somewhere may have a way to do so with HP's Ultrium 960.

Thanks for your assistance.

Sincerely,

Van

Re: Need Driver for Ultrium 960 tape drive on Windows NT

NT4 is no longer supported. So much so that it's not even listed any longer on the tape drive compatibility matrix:

http://www.hp.com/products1/storage/compatibility/tapebackup/software/index.html

Nor on the EBS matrix:
http://h18006.www1.hp.com/products/storageworks/ebs/index.html

I would have no expectation of an NT4 driver for the HP Ultrium960 drive.

Hi Scott,

Thanks for the thought. I will wait two more days in case anyone has a third party solution.
If none, then I will close the issue.

Am closing this issue with the conclusion that there is, and maybe will never be, a driver for Ultrium 960 tape drive for Windows NT. Time to upgrade...

Thanks everyone.
