No Tape Assure data available if Non US Windows

Hello,

i found a Install Problem witch may happend to you (CV 2.6 + 2.7), it is only an issue on non English Windows OS.

Look if the Service "HP CVTL Database" exist and running. If not look for "C:\Programme\Hewlett-Packard\Command View TL\Postgres\data". If it s empty you have no Database for TapeAssure.

Then you should get a Setup Message like: Setup could not provide access privileges to ...
May be you simply click OK, and did not notice.

O.K. Here is my solution:
Look for "..\Hewlett-Packard\Command View TL\config\CVINSTALLDB.bat"

Now Inside for "CACLS %POSTGREDATADIR% /E /G "Users":F >> %OutFilePath%"
Because "Users" does not exist in Non-US Windows CACLS fails and then no DB ist created.
Change it to your localized Windows Group Name.

Save and Run it with the correct Paramters, you can find it in the Logfile:
"..\Hewlett-Packard\Command View TL\log\CVTLInstallDBOut.log"

For example:
cvinstalldb cvtl oXKcZyZ8cLw9 "C:\PROGRA~1\HEWLET~1\COMMAN~1\Postgres\bin" "C:\Programme\Hewlett-Packard\Command View TL\Postgres\data" "C:\Programme\Hewlett-Packard\Command View TL\log\CVTLInstallDBOut-1.log" "HP CVTL Database" 5432 cvtl_db

The Service and the DB in the Data Directory should now be created.

Ah, yesss

Postgres did it again :-(
I don't remember how many hours I've wasted with WEBES&Postgres.

Anyway - thanks for the hint !!

Thanks for raising the issue. I'll feed it back to the development team. We don't do a whole lot of testing on non-english versions. That's a good point...
It's more interesting when it's gone wrong

Instead of CACLS you can use ICACLS and the SID: S-1-5-32-545
SIDs are same on any OS Language.

This is the Advisory that the Lab put out to fix the issue. Are you saying that it did not work?
Document ID: c02281328

This is not the same Issue.
In my Case, the HP CVTL Database will not be Installed.

Re: No Tape Assure data available if Non US Windows

Installing Command View TL on a non-English Windows system fails to install the Command View TL database
Symptom: Installing Command View TL on a non-English Windows operating system fails to install the Command View TL database
Workaround:
1. Open the install database file in Wordpad:
C:\Program files\Hewlett-Packard\Command View TL\config\CVINSTALLDB.bat
2. In the line CACLS %POSTGREDATADIR% /E /G "Users":F >> %OutFilePath% change the Users group name to the appropriate localized Windows group name. Save and close the file.
3. From the command line, run the CVINSTALLDB.bat:
% cd "C:\Program files\Hewlett-Packard\Command View TL\config├в
% cvinstalldb cvtl oXKcZyZ8cLw9 "C:\PROGRA~1\HEWLET~1\COMMAN~1\Postgres\bin" "C:\Program files\
