Not sure if device or controller error on MSL6000
We are currently having issues with our tape drives and i'm not sure if its a controller or the device. It started the other day with one drive becoming inactive and the following error in the event logs:
The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Scsi\ql23001.
When using the UMA utility... instead of a prompt, I get an I/O device error... as shown:
C:\Program Files\OmniBack\bin>uma -ioctl scsi2:0:0:1 -barcode
*** PROGRAM: UMA VERSION: HP OpenView Storage Data Protector A.05.50
*** (c) Copyright Hewlett-Packard Company 2004
*** License is restricted for use with licensed
*** HP OpenView Storage Data Protector products.
[Critical] From: UMA@sanback "(unnamed)" Time: 10/11/2006 9:14:20 AM [90:59] sanback : scsi2:0:0:1
Cannot open exchanger control device ([1117] The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error. )
I'd like to be sure that its the controller before lodging a support call. Are there any tests i can run to confirm this issue... thanks in advance
