OBDR using DDS2 on AIC-7880

I am unable to OBDR a server using HP DDS2 drive on a Fujitsu Server using AIC-7880s on the motherboard. The process starts, and hangs with "setup is checking your hardware..." There is an article close to this on the HP site, suggesting it is a SCSI bios upgrade required, or a change to device order in the system BIOS. My server does not seem to provide the latter to the level required in the article, and I cannot find a BIOS upgrade for Adaptec AIC-7880 anywhere.... Any advice ?

Re: OBDR using DDS2 on AIC-7880

Paul,
AIC-7880 looks like UWSE SCSI controller chip. Anyway, if it's embedded into the server's motherboard I would try addon AHA-2940UW http://www.hp.com/cposupport/information_storage/support_doc/lpg50063.html , checked its BIOS to be the latest http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/suppdetail.html?sess=no&language=English+US&prodkey=AHA-2940UW and upgraded drive's firmware with LTT http://h18006.www1.hp.com/products/storageworks/ltt/index.html

Re: OBDR using DDS2 on AIC-7880

Thanks Eugeny. I have another server which works just fine with the AHA-2940 card, but I don't have another, so wanted to get the 7880 working - and it almost does ! I'll have to keep scrounging around for another 2940 I guess....

Re: OBDR using DDS2 on AIC-7880

Ok. Then you can try two more things:
1. go to PC/server manufactrer site, find and download latest bios for embedded SCSI card. Upgrade bios;
2. deep into SCSI bios to find what can cause this behavior (sorry can not help with it... you should try something there to fix this issue).
You may also try to upgrade not only SCSI bios, but server's bios.
If all these steps will not help - then really... go and look for 2940 card
