Problems with HP C1537A and W2K backups
We have some Proliants 1600 and ML370 servers with Tape drive "HP C1537A" and "Compaq dds3 12/24 GB dat Drive". We have bought new tapes "SONY DDS3 125m", in the servers with HP C1537A, they don??t work fine, the system says "The device, \Device\Tape0, has a bad block" and the backup never works. In the servers with Compaq tape drive, the message also appears , but we can format the tape and the backup works fine,if we use this tape formateded in Hp c1537a, then it works fine. OS is Windows 2000 with SP2, and backup software is "NTBACKUP".The tape drive is attatched to Compaq Integrated Dual Channel wide Ultra2 SCSI Controller. We have upgraded the firmaware to L005 and the driver hpdat.sys. With other models of tape seems (Verbatin, Basf, and older Sony) works fine, althouh sometimes the system says "The tape drive needs cleanign" or backup fails after some time.
