Proliant ML570 + Surestore Dat40x6e + Win2K = Cpq32fs2 controller error event id 11 on every boot ?

I have setup Proliant ML570 (2x PIII Xeon 700Mhz) with Windows 2000 server service pack 3 and SureStore Dat40x6e external autoloader. The external autoloader is connected to the server integrated dual channel wide ultra2 SCSI adapter using the original VHD-to-HD external LVD/SE SCSI cable and terminator that comes with the autoloader. The server is also installed with SmartArray 5312 for raid only. I have installed the latest driver for the autoloader downloaded from HP and also applied the latest Proliant support pack for Windows 2000 version 6.30A (23 Apr 03). I have also successfully run and passed diagnostic test using hp StorageWorks Library and tape tools Version 3.2 SR1.

The following event message appear in the event log everytime the server started:

Type: Error
Event ID: 11
Source: Cpq32fs2
Description: The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Scsi\Cpq32fs2

The message would not appear if the server started with the autoloader turned off.

I'm trying to eliminate this error before continuing with backup software and other software installations. Any help is very much appreciated.

Hi,

Check your configuration on the link below to see if it is supported. It sounds like it is, but you are in the best position to check everything against the details below

Re: Proliant ML570 + Surestore Dat40x6e + Win2K = Cpq32fs2 controller error event id 11 on every boot ?

Dear Dave,

Thanks. I have check the configuration based on the document and everything seems to be OK except the statement :

"Please ensure the adpu160m.sys driver Version 6.1.545.100 or higher available from www.compaq.com/support is used in this configuration."

I search drive C and found one adpu160m.sys with version 5.0.2195.3649 in folder C:\Winnt\ServicePackFiles\i386.

Based on info. that I found from the website the updated file reside in cp003194.exe from the support pack (hp ProLiant 64-Bit/66-Mhz Dual Channel Wide Ultra3 SCSI Controller Driver for Windows 2000/Server 2003).

I tried to run the file but the following error message displayed :

"The software does not need to be installed on this system".

Maybe the file does not need to be installed in my system, but what else might cause the problem ?

Any help is very much appreciated.

Hi,

Proliant's are not really my area of expertise, I would suggest you post on the proliant forum.

However, I did a quick search on hp.com myself and came up with the following link

http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/14988.html

this links to cp002149.exe that is for hp ProLiant 64-Bit/66-Mhz Dual Channel Wide Ultra3 SCSI Controller Driver for Windows 2000
version 6.1.545.100 (27 Jun 02), was this the one you meant? your message references cp003149.exe instead.

Cheers,

Dave Dewar.

Thanks. I'll post the same message to Proliant forum.

cp003149.exe is actually the latest version of hp ProLiant 64-Bit/66-Mhz Dual Channel Wide Ultra3 SCSI Controller Driver for Windows 2000/Server 2003 but I believe it is not related to this driver as the event message is related to cpq32fs2.sys which is hp ProLiant 32-Bit SCSI Controller Driver for Windows 2000/Server 2003.
