SAN and LAN backup

Hello!

We're moving to Dataprotector and are gonna start san backups. We have a msl 5026, one N1200 san router and one proliant server to install dataprotector on. I'm not sure how I should connect all devices even... Also how does zoning work when you want to backup from san.

Cheers Magnus!

Re: SAN and LAN backup

all hosts that has to take a san backup has to be connected to the san switch, where the library is connected to.

you will do a zoning for each hba cards in the hosts to see the port where tape library is connected. a port zoning would be recommended.

So, proliant-scsi-msl5026-scsi-sanrouter-fiber-san switch. Thats how it should be connected to each other?

Re: SAN and LAN backup

hi magnus, if you want to have a san backup, you will need a fc adapter on the proliant server. so the connection would be like this :

proliant fc adapter => san switch => nsr1200 => msl5026 tape drive and robotic controller.
