Re: SC44Ge not recognising a DAT160 SAS Drive

Gus,

Windows Driver update went OK but no change.

Firmware update in SP37675.exe failed in exactly the same way.

So both cards failed the firmware updates.

Have tried another cable.

Am just trying another tape drive but don't have much hope.

New tape drive made no difference either.

Re: SC44Ge not recognising a DAT160 SAS Drive

Same problem with my ML370 G5 quad core. Have SC44Ge SAS HBA connected to SAS DAT160 using the supplied y-cable.

Tape drive is not detected by the SAS HBA - says no devices detected.

Firmware CD 8.30 applied but no updates were required.

OS is SLES10 SP2 but should be irrelevant as SAS HBA does not detect DAT drive. HBA settings already set as described in the alert.

Any more ideas?

Re: SC44Ge not recognising a DAT160 SAS Drive

The instructions for updating fw on SC44Ge are wrong - it is not possible to extract sp 41589 to a USB Drive Key formatted as DOS floppy - sp41589 is far to big and it won't fit. My card is MPT BIOS 6.18.05.00 1.23.39.00.
Please provide fw update instructions that will work.

Re: SC44Ge not recognising a DAT160 SAS Drive

OK, on a COLD boot only, the HBA will display the DAT160 drive (fw WS77), but SLES10 does not see it. Installed mptlinux, no help.
modprobe st does not produce /dev/st0. No tape device. According to Compat guide, this is supported config from HP. How do I make it work? Any ideas?

Re: SC44Ge not recognising a DAT160 SAS Drive

Steve,

Don't know if you are still having problems but the following has worked for me.

Upgrade the system BIOS with SP42035.exe at
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=1121586&prodNameId=3279711&swEnvOID=1005&swLang=8&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=MTX-b1b8ac8ce3b1413692ca1ccea7

And upgrade the SC44ge with SP40388.exe at
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=329290&prodSeriesId=3263289&prodNameId=3263294&swEnvOID=1005&swLang=8&taskId=135&swItem=MTX-5d0f994839d84efcb000e3fe56&mode=3

The tape is now shown by the hba bios on every boot and i can access the drive in windows.

I've got another machine to fix out in the field and will update next week when i have had a look at that one.

Re: SC44Ge not recognising a DAT160 SAS Drive

Throwing the DAT away and buying a new one solved the problem.
