SCSI controller not starting for DLT drive

I have an DL380 with NT 4.0 as the NOS. I attached a Compaq 35/70 DLT drive to the SCSI port1 in the back of the server. Then I remove the Compaq drive array controller card(the card it'nt needed because I using a Smart Array 3200 controller instead of the inigrated controller) Next, I go to Control panel and select SCSI Adapter then I select "Compaq SCSI controller". When booting the machine it scans for SCSI devices which it finds the DLT drive. After the scanning, it loads the remander of the kernal. 5 second after getting the Microsoft logo I get " Hardware malfuction...parity error.

Do you have any cables attached to that controller internally?
