SDLT 320 External to StorageWorks 3U case

Hi,

I have 2 External SDLT 320 Tape Drives connected to a server.

I have an empty StorageWorks 3U chassis, which I believe would accept the internal version of these tape drives...

So my question is, is it possible to convert these drives to internal, is it supported, and is there a HP guide explaining how to do it??!

Hello ..
From the following link I dont see the SDLT 320 that can be used/converted for the 3U rack but SDLT 600 can be used. http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/10854_div/10854_div.PDF

Hi,

There is No Option to fit an External Drive into the Chassis.
As you suggested you can fit the Internal Drive on this rack chassis.

As Thomas already said, you can't put a external tape drive in a enclosure. You should use internal tape drives.

Mostly internal and external drives are the same drive.

Or in other words. an external drive is an internal drive put in a box with a power supply.

Drives for tape libraries and autoloaders, that's another story.

There might be exceptions. But the aboave is my experience.
